THE GARDENS
Years of planning, digging, planting and watering have been rewarded with beautiful gardens. Children play among chickens, bunnies and ducks, all who make there home in these gardens. Corn, peas and pumpkins are planted grown and harvested by the children. Kitchen gardens allow children to grow and harvest right from the garden.
OUR BEAUTIFUL CAMPUS
In 2003, the PlayGarden became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit , and the Seattle Parks Department offered the south end of Colman Playfield, at 24th Avenue South and South Grand Street, as the site for a public-private development. The PlayGarden eagerly accepted the offer because of the opportunity the site presented to involve the residents of the surrounding economically and ethnically diverse neighborhoods and the site's easy access for families of children with disabilities from all over King County.
Today, through this public-private partnership, the entire community can enjoy this beautiful space, and children of all ages and levels of ability enjoy camps, programs, and fun events.
